Variable Rate Fertiliser Application

This year AgAssist has taken the paddock by paddock whole farm approach to nutrient management one step further by developing a Variable Rate Application (VRA) program to target specific nutrient requirements of different soil types within a paddock – Precision farming!

By using EM38 maps produced by Rebuen Wells from Ag Logic, different soil types can be tested to develop VRA maps where VRA-equipped spreading trucks can automatically vary the rates of fertiliser or lime so that each soil type or zone is targeted with specific lime or nutrient amounts.

Variable Rate Application of fertiliser and lime takes the guesswork out of paddock variability and can identify areas where production can be increased and fertiliser/lime expenditure can be reduced.
